Believe In Center

When I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Communications from Umass Amherst, I had no idea I would end up with my own hypnosis practice. Yet life has a way of taking us on some twists and turns. And so, here I am.

As a working mom of 3 school-aged children and acting as primary caregiver for my live-in elderly mom, I found that my stress level was off the charts. As a coping mechanism, I would share my stories or feelings with pretty much anyone who would listen to me - friends, other moms, co-workers, my hairdresser, pretty much anyone who would lend an ear. The more I shared, the more others would share with me how stressful their lives were. I knew stress existed, but I never realized how much of a struggle it is for so many. For me, my stress led to anxiety. I was questioning my abilities at every turn. I was overthinking everything way too much. I was obsessing about past conversations and events while, at the same time, worried about things that hadn’t even happened yet. I was experiencing racing thoughts, brain fog and general disorganization. Physically, I was constantly tired, run down, experiencing daily headaches and I was steadily gaining weight. My cortisol levels were through the roof. I wasn’t exercising due to fatigue, and I was overeating due to stress. I was turning to food for comfort and using it as reward for just getting through another day. A day off from work here and there, nor a vacation, was enough for me to recharge successfully.

As a mom, I felt I just needed to plow through. Things will get easier one day, right? Yet when I noticed how stress was affecting my children, I knew I needed to take action. At the time, I found it very difficult to access traditional mental or behavioral resources. It was hard to find the right therapist as very few were accepting new patients. I found myself researching alternative methods while waiting for appointment times to open up. A friend of mine suggested I try hypnosis. Reluctantly, I did. Reluctantly I became one of its biggest fans. I ultimately pursued certification. I received my training and certification from the National Guild of Hypnotists. The mission statement of the NGH is: "consulting hypnotists help ordinary, everyday people with ordinary, everyday problems using individual hypnotic techniques."

It is my goal to make hypnosis more mainstream. I would love to see as many hypnotists as massage therapists. The relaxation and peacefulness to be experienced from hypnosis is so healing. Please know, I do not believe that hypnosis replaces professional mental or behavioral health services. I regard hypnosis as another helpful tool in one’s toolbox to harness the power of the mind, assist with positive lifestyle changes, and find peace from within.

So much of success comes from mindset. I know what it is like to be flailing. It is a very dark, frustrating place. Life sometimes throws you there, but it is not a place to live. Let me help you be the best version of yourself. Let me help you quiet the voice in your head that tells you you're not good enough, or you're not worth it, or don't try anything new because you will probably fail. Not only can I help you quiet those negative thoughts, but I can also help turn them around. Imagine your inner voice is your best friend. Telling you how strong you are, how unstoppable you are, how loved you are, how successful you will be. No matter what. Wouldn't that be amazing?

Hypnosis is absolutely safe. It does not act as truth serum. You will not divulge anything while under hypnosis that you wouldn't say otherwise. You are not "out of it." In fact, you could get up out of the chair anytime you wish. You'll just be so relaxed you won't want to. You will leave our session feeling energized yet rested. Focused, yet calm. Motivated, yet tranquil.

Believe It. Breathe It. Live It.
